Police in Bugiri is holding Farouk Waiswa, a candidate for the Bwole Parish LC 3 councilor's seat for stealing a goat.
He was picked up yesterday from Bugiri abattoir where he was caught red-handed slaughtering the goat that belongs to the National Agricultural Advisory Services program. Police recovered the head of the goat as exhibit.
His arrest came after residents complained that animals supplied to farmers under the National Agricultural Advisory Services program were being sold at a giveaway price.
Ben Tumugabilwe, Bugiri Deputy Internal Security Officer says that following he complaints from residents they decided to mount an operation to net the culprits.
Kamadhi Mugyeni, Bugiri District Criminal Investigations Officer says that Waiswa will be charged in court with theft.
He cautions beneficiaries of the NAADS program not to sell off farm implements given to them by government to benefit other members.
