A sugar cane truck has overturned in Njeru killing two people. The identities of the accident victims have not yet been established.
The two men are believed to be residents of Lugazi town council. They were killed this morning after the truck on which they traveling in to Kakira Sugar works overturned at Njeru.
The driver of the truck is escaped unhurt and is still at large.
The lorry also paralyzed traffic along the Jinja – Kampala highway five kilometers, from Owen Fall Dam. Samson Lubega, South eastern regional police spokesperson attributes the accident to over speeding.
He says that the lorry was over speeding on a step slope from Nakibizi despite of the poor visibility on the road as a result of a heavy down pour.
Police has cautioned the cane drivers to stop carrying passengers aboard the trucks.
