Presidential candidate, Beti Kamya, is today undergoing intestinal surgery at Kampala International Hospital.
Kamya was admitted to hospital on Saturday morning after a rally in Lugazi. Initially it was believed that she was merely suffering extreme fatigue, the result of a grueling campaign schedule.
Speaking from her hospital bed this morning, Kamya said her condition is not alarming. She said she was diagnosed with a partial intestinal obstruction caused by irregular meals.

Kamya has been ordered to bed rest for a week. With elections just over a fortnight away, this will severely cut into her campaign schedule.
The presidential candidate says she had planned to visit the Toro region this week. She says the campaign will now be taken over by members of her Uganda Federal Alliance party.

Dr. Prasandan Thayill the Chief Anesthesiologist at Kampala International Hospital says he is optimistic that because Kamya has no other health promises, she should be fully recovered in a week.
