Police in Hoima are accused of harassing opposition politicians and their supporters.
The Hoima FDC chairman, Jackson Wabyona, says presidential and parliamentary campaigns in the district were progressing well until this week. He says that since Monday FDC supporters have been harassed and barred from participating in campaigns.
The FDC is particularly unhappy with Joseph Donge, the officer in charge of Kaiso Police Post in Buseruka sub-county.
Wabyona says the police officer illegally arrested FDC campaigners and his staff are openly biased towards the opposition.

Cue out: "... our supporters and leaders."//
The police officer, Joseph Donge, denies the allegations. Although he doesn't say who exactly was responsible for the arrest, he points the finger to the Kaiso local council officials.
The Hoima District Police Commander, Augustine Kasangaki, also refutes the charge that the police are witch hunting the opposition. He says the FDC has reported its case to him and he has started investigations to root out any semblance of bias in his department.
Jackson Wabyona however maintains his position. He says FDC members are willing to defend themselves against injustice in the elections.
