He says that during the arrest police recovered more than 60 rounds of ammunitions from Ssempijja is still tracing for the gun. Ssempijja's troubles started after Florence Kintu, the Kalungu district NRM woman parliamentary candidate accused him of threatening to shoot her supporters.

Kintu alleges that over the weekend, Ssempijja and a group of his supporters stormed her rallies over disrupted it. According to Kintu who is also the Kalungu district LC5 Chairperson, Ssempijja moves in a number of vehicles with Jameo Kiberu, an independent woman parliamentary candidate and intimidates voters.

She claims that Ssempijja and his team have created tension and defaced all her posters and his rival Umar Lule Mayiya, the Kalungu East NRM Parliamentary candidate.

But Vincent Ssempijja says that his arrest is politically motivated but has nothing to do with guns. He says he acquired the gun legally for his personal security and has its license.

Ssempijja claims that he has evidence that some soldiers are persecuting him because of his overwhelming support in Kalungu East against NRM candidate Umar Mawiya.
