Hope Mwesigye, the Agriculture Minister is accusing First Lady Janet Museveni of supporting her rival for the Kabale Woman District Parliamentary seat.
Mwesigye says that she has evidence that Janet bought a Rav 4 car and offered material support to her rival Rona Ninsima, an independent candidate.
She however asks the first to concentrate on politics in Ruhama constituency instead of Kabale District.
Addressing campaign rallies in Rubanda West and Ndorwa West said as a cabinet minister it is wrong for Janet to campaign against her.
The cold war between Mwesigye, and the first lady first came to the fore in January this year. While attending a youth conference at Kigezi College Butobere, Mwesigye shunned the first lady forcing Janet to hug Ninsima.
This annoyed Mwesigye and her supporters who started accusing the first lady of siding with Ninsiima. As a result state house launched investigations led by Peace Mutuze into utterances attributed to the minister about the first lady.
The statehouse investigators recorded statements from 10 people about the incident.
Ninsiima Ronah denies receiving any support from the first lady to unseat Mwesigye. Ninsiima challenges Mwesigye to produce evidence supporting her claims.
Joshua Abaho, the political assistant to Janet Museveni says that the utterances by the minister are intended to tarnish the first lady.
Abaho says that they have never supported Ninsiima, an independent candidate.
// Cue in: "Mama Janet would"...
Cue out: ... "Spiritually and not physically"//
Isaac Kawonawo the Political Assistant to Hope Mwesigye however down plays the bad blood between the Minister and the first lady.
// Cue in: "ihave not heard her"...
Cue out: "State house investigating"//
He says they are concentrating on campaigns to retain the seat and have not time to engage in fights with the first lady.
