George Katuramu, a campaign agent of Major Okwir Rwaboni, an independent candidate for the Buryaha parliamentary seat, is nursing injuries at Fort Portal Referral Hospital after he was beaten into a coma by unknown people.

Katuramu was beaten and left for dead by unknown people on Tuesday evening while returning home from campaigns to search votes for his candidate. He was discovered by residents of Kiko trading center in Ruteete Sub who rushed him to hospital for treatment.

Katuramu whose life is out of danger explains that he was returning home when he met the unidentified men a few meters from Kiko trading center. Katuramu says that when the assailants saw him they said this is the man of Maj.Okwir whom we have been looking for and now we have got him.

He says that the men descended on him and rained several blows that left him unconscious. Okwir Rwaboni told URN later that his supporters are being harassed by the agents of his rival Steven Kagwera, the NRM candidate.

He also accused Kagwera of bribery saying that police has failed to contain the situation. Joseph Ssentamu Bitali the Fort Portal OC Cid said that they have launched investigations into the incident.

Steven Kagwera has not yet commented on the matter as he was reportedly out in the field trying to wind up his election campaign.
