The National Resistance Movement party, has pulled out all the stops, a day before the Local council elections in which the party expects big wins.
The NRM party needs to scoop the LC 5 seat formerly occupied by the Democratic Party President Norbert Mao, in order to gain a cognizable leadership presence in the Acholi sub region.
The NRM party has already scooped nine out of the 15 parliamentary constituencies in the Acholi sub region.
On the eve of the Local government elections, Douglas Peter Okao, the NRM campaigns coordinator for northern Uganda, is optimistic that the NRM will scoop the LC V seat from the DP party.
Okao says the NRM party has dealt a great blow to the opposition, who capitalized on lies and empty promises in order to win massive votes from the population.
But Reagan Okumu, the FDC northern region campaign coordinator, says it is too early for the NRM to celebrate. He says the NRM gained upper hand in the just recently concluded elections because the opposition split their votes among candidates.
Okumu also says that the NRM took an upper hand because of the intrigue that has eaten into the opposition parties.
Betty Kibwota, an independent who lost the Gulu woman MP seat race, accuses the NRM of flouting the electoral laws in favor of its candidates.
