The electoral commission needs more than two million shillings to organize fresh elections for the Kampala Mayoral seat.
Eng. Badru Kiggundu, told journalist in Kampala that the commission doesn't have the money in its own coffers but would approach the treasury for additional funding.
Its not yet clear when the fresh elections will take place, but Kiggundu explains that even with funding, the printing and transportation ofballot papers could delay the process further.

The mayoral and Local Council Five elections in Kampala were cancelled on Wednesday last week, due to massive irregularities, ranging from ballot stuffing to early opening of polling stations.
Kigundu has warned all the Mayoral candidates against campaigning.
Last week, Independent candidate Elias Lukwago, announced that he will resume campaigns. However the EC chairman says whoever holds a rally will be doing it illegally.
//Cue in..it is illegal."
Cue out..and security."//
Meanwhile, the electoral commission chairperson says that all polling agents found liable for the poll mess in Kampala will be convicted for wrong doing and will not be paid their entitlements for the election day.
