Three people, including a Radio Disc Jockey have been arrested for alleged defilement.
One of the suspects Daniel Otaala, a radio presenter in one of the Lira based Radio station was arrested for allegedly defiling an 8-year-old girl.
Denis Okullu a S.3 student of Nakasongola Army SS was for defiling two sisters aged 13 years and 9. Police has learnt that the suspects went to the home of the two girls and on realizing that their mother was away, pounced on the 13-year-old girl and later the 9-year-old girl.
Agness Adong, a concerned neighbor was attracted by the screams coming from the house and on getting there, she found the boy having sex with the girl.
Okullu fled and has since been on the run until Friday, when he was nabbed from Masindi where he has been hiding. He is currently being detained at Lira Central Police station.
The third suspect Tonny Oyugi, a resident of Ocanoyere village, in Agweng trading center is accused of defiling his own biological daughter.
Henry Alyanga, the central North police spokesman, says that the arrest of the three suspects comes amid increasing concerns about the rising wave of defilement cases in Lira district.
He says that police have so far registered 13 defilement cases over the past four days.
