Richard Ssebuliba Mutumba, who was re-elected as Kawempe South Member of Parliament has petitioned high court to compel Electoral Commission to gazette him as MP.

This morning Mutumba filed a petition at Kampala High Court against Electoral Commission for failing to gazette him despite his re-election.

In his petition, Mutumba asserts that Molly Mutanzindwa, the Kampala Returning Officer declared him MP Elect for Kawempe South on February 20.

He says that on February 21 Electoral Commission published a gazette of all elected members of parliament from various parts of the country leaving out Kampala and Wakiso.

Electoral Commission is required by law to gazette all members of parliament within ten days after elections.

He contends that the failure by Electoral Commission to gazette him is in bad faith and ill will.

Mutumba wants high court to compel EC to gazette him and also pay him costs of the suite and damages.

Justice Eldard Mwangushya has set March 15 as the day for ruling on the petition.
