Election
The ruling National Resistance Movement has once again achieved significant gains, winning the most seats in the just concluded LC 3 elections in Kasese district.

The NRM party, took twenty-two out of the 27 electoral seats, leaving just five seats for the opposition Forum for Democratic Change.

The NRM party has taken all the urban councils with the exception of Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council, which went to the FDC.

NRM also scooped significant seats in Nyamwamba, Central and Bulembia divisions of Kasese Municipality, Hima Town council and Katwe-Kabatoro town council. NRM also snatched Kilembe and Kyondo sub-counties from the FDC.

Declaring the results on Tuesday morning, the Kasese district, Ahmed Musisi Nadduli, the registrar, noted that the FDC party lost key sub-counties that have been strongholds in the last ten years. The sub counties include Maliba, where FDC district chairman Saulo Maate lost to NRM's Robson Magoma who has been speaker to council.

FDC still commands two of its major stronghold sub-counties of Kyalhumba and Kisinga that has been won by local musician Chance Kahindo Sibyabugha.

Recently Dr.Crispus Kiyonga, the NRM chairperson in Kasese district, was quoted saying that he would not leave Kasese until the NRM has conquered all the LC 3 seats.
