Mao's Official Car Rotting At Hoima Police Parking Yard

News
Mao's car abondoned for months at Hoima police parking yard.
Democratic Party president’s official car is rotting at Hoima police parking yard, three months after it was involved in a motor accident last year.

Norbert Mao was  involved in a motor accident at Kyakapeeya on the Masindi-Hoima road in Buhanika Sub County.

The accident occurred when  the then presidential candidate was heading to Kibaale from Lira at the start of his campaign trail in Bunyoro on Monday December  6.

Mao and the other three occupants survived the accident with minor injuries. They were treated at Kyakapeeya health centre and later discharged to continue with the journey.

The bonnet of His Toyota Land Cruiser Registration number UAN 460E, was damaged after it overturned during the accident. It was towed from the scene to Hoima police station.

Hoima District police Commander Augustine Kasangaki says  neither the  DP party officials nor Mao has come to claim the car, which he says is reparable.

Parked under a tree at Hoima police station, the Democratic Party president’s official car is getting rusty.DPC Kasangaki who had earlier preferred not to talk to journalists about the matter says police will keep the car until Mao picks it, as the police role is to protect people and their property.

Kenneth Kakande, the Democratic Party spokesperson confirmed the car’s long presence at Hoima police parking yard.

He says Mao had not had time to settle down after the presidential campaigns to organize for its repair and its return to Kampala. Kakande reveals however that people have been sent from Kampala to go and pick the car.
