IGG Orders Councilor out of Office

News
Fred Mpora, the Kyankwanzi Sub-county LC 3 chairperson, has been forced out of office, on the orders of the Inspector general of government.

Mpora is accused of abuse of office and for defrauding a ranch located in Banda village in Kyankwanzi sub-county.

Mpora allegedly solicited millions of money from owners of Ranch 16 in Banda Kyankwanzi sub-county, under the pretext that he was going to help them acquire land titles.

On March 9th 2011, Raphael Baku, the IGG wrote a letter to John Hashaka Muhanguzi, the local government ministry permanent secretary, ordering Fred Mpora to hand over office to his deputy Peter Kabatangare.

According to the letter, the Inspector General of Government, ordered Mpora to leave his office in order to pave way for investigations.

But  supporters of Fred Mpora are organizing amass demonstration to protest the IGG’s order.

They argue that Mpora is a victim of political witch-hunt.
Mpora has just been re-elected as the Sub-county LC3 chairperson, But the Kyankwanzi district police commander Byaruhanga Titus has warned that police is ready to crack down any unlawful protest.

He says his office is aware of the planned demonstrations and would not hesitate to take stern action on the protesters.

Efforts to get a comment from Mpora have been fruitless since yesterday as his phone is off.
