38 injured in Masaka Road accident
38 people have been injured critically following an accident involving a bus belonging to Bismarkan coaches at Kasijjagirwa village along Masaka-Mbarara highway.

The accident occurred in the wee hours of this morning when the ill fated bus of registration number UAK 801 veered off the road and over turned in a trench. 
 
 
Some of the bus accident victims are Christopher Nabassa, Sirasi Urayenezza, Polinali Hakimufura all residents of Kisoro, Amos Bazarwa and Rashid Banyezaaki residents of North Kivu  province in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
 
 
 
Polinali Hakimufura a resident of Nzogera in Nyarusizza Sub County in Kisoro says that they boarded the ill fated bus at 10pm from Kisoro. He says that on reaching, Kasijjagirwa at around 2 am the bus veered off the road and overturned in a trench.
 
 
Hakimufura suspects that the driver could have fallen asleep while driving leading to the accident. He says that 30 over the 50 passengers who were traveling on the bus were injured critically while others escaped with minor injuries.
 
 
He says that Masaka police and RRU operatives rushed to the scene of the accident and evacuated most of the victims to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.
 
Hakimufura says that most of the passengers were robbed off their properties including mobile phones and clothes by the first people who arrived at the scene to rescue them.
 
 
Job Mutegeki, the Southern Region Rapid Response Unit commandant says that they have mounted a search for the driver and conductor of the ill fated bus.
 
 
The wreckage of the bus has been towed to Masaka police station. Dr. David Nuwamanya, the public relations officer Masaka Referral Hospital says that none of the accident victims rushed at the hospital has died.
 
 
Some of the accident survivors have pitched camp at Masaka police station pleading for transport to their destination saying they were robbed off all their money.
