The chief magistrate said Besigye would be required to report to Nabweru Magistrates court on May 13th 2011.
Court was plunged into jubilations when the bail was announced. People gathered outside the court chambers and began singing the Buganda kingdom anthem.

Earlier, the hearing of the bail application was adjourned to 2:00pm after Besigye’s Lawyers failed to turn up in court. The lawyers remained glued at Nabweru court on grounds that they didn’t receive any communication notifying them about the transfer of the court proceedings.

The proceedings resumed at 2:00pm without any of Besigye’s lawyer in court. Five minutes later the proceedings were adjourned again after the magistrate told court that she needed some time to consult.
