Disan Sserwanga, the proprietor of Kyanakasse Coffee Processing factory in Lwengo district has been arrested for his alleged involvement in ritual murder.
Sserwanga’s troubles stem from the murder of Richard Nambaale, a 24-year-old man who went missing from his parents’ home.
The disappearance was brought to the attention of the police by the boy’s parents. The parents told police that the boy was last seen alive in the company of Sserwanga’s acquaintance, identified as Yafesi Musoke.
Musoke was arrested and is also under police custody. On interrogation, Musoke told police that he sold the boy to his Sserwanga at 800,000 shillings only. He however said that at the time of his arrest, he had received only 10,000 shillings.
Jonathan Barooza, the district police commander, says the boy’s whereabouts to date are not known, but Preliminary investigations have linked Sserwanga to the Boys disappearance.
The district police commander says a search on Sserwanga’s house and shrines have yielded nothing. Sserwanga and his accompliceYafesi Musoke will be transferred to Masaka Magistrate court to answer charges of murder.
But Sserwanga has denied any wrongdoing. He claims that he does not know the man, but Musoke pinned him in front of the police saying that he sold him the boy, with intent of sacrificing him to the factory in order to boost his revenue.
