Kiiza Besigye Barred from Returning Home from Kenya
The opposition FDC leader, Kiiza Besigye has been barred from returning home from Kenya.

Major John Kazoora, the FDC party secretary for defense, has confirmed the latest developments.

He says that Besigye accompanied by his wife Winnie Byanyima, and a nurse arrived at the airport at 6:30am ready to fly back home.

With his boarding pass in hand, a schedule officer told Besigye that they had received instructions from Uganda saying that the KQ flight would be denied landing rights if they arrived with Besigye on board.

Besigye was expected at Entebbe International Airport at 9:00am this morning.

Kazoora says that Besigye and his wife are currently holed up at Nairobi airport government lounge awaiting an explanation from both the Kenyan and Ugandan Governments as to why they are being blocked.

Besigye’s blockage comes on the eve of President Museveni’s swearing in ceremony for a fifth term of office.

Security at Entebbe international Airport has also been stepped up.
