Politics
Divisionism in the National Resistance Movement is hurting the party and tarnishing Uganda’s image abroad, outgoing deputy speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga has said.

Kadaga, the Kamuli woman MP who is poised to become speaker of the 9thparliament, was yesterday speaking at victory party for Justine Kasule Lumumba, the Bugiri woman member of parliament. The party was held at Afroniko Hotel in Kira town council, Wakiso district.

Kadaga said the country has a negative image in other countries and among the donor community due to differences at home and this she said is hurting the economy. She called on NRM party members to unite and forget political differences amongst themselves.

Kadaga added the opposition parties are using the conflicts amongst the NRM members discredit government saying that it is run by President Museveni and his in-laws. She however did not mention names of those conflicting within the party.

The NRM caucus on Sunday endorsed Kadaga as the party candidate for the position of speaker of parliament. She has been deputizing Edward Sekandi in the 8thparliament but the Bukoto Central legislator pulled out of the race to retain his seat.
