One person died this morning and 8 others were seriously injured when a vehicle they were traveling in over turned at Nabitovu along Iganga-Kaliro road. The deceased has been identified as Wilson Kigonera, a businessman from Iganga.
Some of the accident victims who were rushed to hospital are Joshua Mugweri, Richard Ngero, Lillian Nakato and Geoffrey Isabirye. The survivors say that, the driver of the ill fated car lost control after a tire burst and veered off the road before the car over turned several times.
Kigonera was killed on spot. The conductor of the ill fated Tax registration number UAK 780X Bosco Sinini was also injured serious in the accident and is hospitalized in critical condition.
Police is hunting for Dalausi Maganda, the driver of the ill fated taxi who escaped from the scene of the accident. Wilson Kunya, the officer in charge of Traffic Kaliro district suspects that the accident could have been a result of over loading.
