Operatives from the Inspectorate of Government have today grilled three senior officials of Masaka Municipal council. The interrogations come a day after the arrest of Sarafino Oleti, the municipality physical planner for corruption.
The senior officials grilled this morning include Johnson Baryantuma Munono, Masaka town clerk, Charles Kasibante Kibabilire, outgoing Mayor and Mary Acha Olikiliizza, the assistant town clerk in Charge of Nyendo-Ssenyange division.
The operatives also grilled several junior staff in the works department of Masaka Municipality. Reuben Bainomujuni, the regional inspectorate officer who led the interrogation declined to reveal details of his investigations.
According to Bainomujuni he was looking for additional information to attach on the file of Sarafino Oleti, the detained Masaka principal physical planner. Sarafino was arrested yesterday for receiving a bribe of shillings 50,000 to as an inducement to approve a building plan.
Bainomujuni says that he wants to use the information he obtained from the officials to build his case against Oleti in the anti corruption court.

Today, unidentified people claiming to be relatives of Oleti attempted to attack a journalist for taking pictures of the detained official. They threatened to deal with any journalists who writes stories that tarnish the image of their relative.
