Unidentified iron bar-wielding thugs have killed at least one person and left two others nursing serious injuries in separate incidents in Mukono district.
The first attack on Sunday night took place at Nakituturi village in Kyampisi Sub County along Kayunga-Bugerere road.
The deceased has been identified as Robert Ssekiro 45, a former Local Defense Unit Operative and a resident of Nasuti in Mukono central division. The deceased was reportedly coming from Kisowera Secondary School where he had taken his 17-year-old daughter to resume school this term.
The second attack took place at Kitete village in Mukono central division, where Capt. Fred Sserumpanise 40, and Rose Nakabuye were attacked but survived with serious injuries. They are now admitted at Mukono Health Center. The assailants also robbed them of their cash and property.
The officer in charge of Criminal investigations at Mukono police station, Mark Odongo confirmed the incident and said investigation are ongoing. He added that the deceased’s body has been taken to the city mortuary.
According to Mukono police, 30 people died and 20 sustained injuries in the district as a result of attacks by iron-bar wielding thugs.
