Police in Lira have launched investigations into the death of a primary 5 pupil at Otinowa Orphanage Center. Lillian Akot died on May 27 under unclear circumstances.
Police in Lira have launched investigations into the death of a primary 5 pupil at Otinowa Orphanage Center. Lillian Akot died on May 27 under unclear circumstances. Rev, Dickens Anyati, the administrator of Otinowa Orphanage Center claims that Akot died of acute malaria and typhoid.
 
But her uncle Charles Ogwal Opoo disagrees saying that the deceased was tortured to death by other children in the orphanage. Ogwal says that they got information from some parents close to the school indicating that Akot was tortured by fellow pupils before she was rushed to Lira regional referral hospital where died from on May 27.

 
He also alleges that he was never informed of the ill health of her niece she passed away on Friday as the school administration claims. But Reverend Dickens Anyati, the school administrator insists that Akot died of acute malarial and typhoid. He denies concealing any information about the true cause of death of Akot.
 
Henry Alyanga, Central North police spokesman says that they have opened inquiries into the death of Akot. Alyanga says that they have a team of detectives to Otinowa orphanage centre at Apii village to investigate the death because a public outcry.
