Members of the Mbale Municipal Council have vowed to reject mayor’s new proposed executive members.

Last week, The Councilors refused to approve the executive tabled by Mutwalib Zandya, the new Mayor for Mbale Municipality on grounds that it was biased and inclined towards religious and party affiliations.

Zandya, a member of the FDC party, allegedly appointed mostly FDC councilors and Muslim believers from Industrial Division, leaving out councilors from Wanale and Northern Division. He is also accused of segregating against the Christians on his appointments.

Zandya however says his appointment was balanced and based on ability to perform. He says that he is not ready to change the composition of his executive.

Raymond Kwaja, the Namatala ward councilor from Northern Division however says councilors will continue to reject Mayor’s executive team unless he makes adjustments.
