Three people died on Friday afternoon when the bus they were travelling in collided with a truck at Kabalungi village along the Masaka-Mbarara highway.
The accident occured at 1:30pm, when the bus belonging to Jussy Tours reg number UAH-648T heading to Kasese from Kampala, collided with a truck of Roymonds Construction Company.
The truck was carrying stones for the construction of the Mbarara-Masaka road. .
Three people including two women and a man died after getting stuck in the bus wreckage. The identities of the deceased were not readily available by press time.
The district police commander, Johnathan Bagonza attributes the accident to reckless driving. He says the bus driver was trying to over-take three vehicles, when he rammed into the truck.
Martin Kakooza, an eyewitness says the bus was overspeeding from Kampala as it tried to overtake three saloon cars that were heading in the same direction.
Friday's accident, brings to three the number of buses that have been involved in accidents at Kabalungi village.
