Court Orders Vote Recount in Kasese's Disputed Poll

High Court in Kasese orders vote recount in disputed poll for Woman MP

The High court in kasese, has ordered for a recount of the votes that were cast in nine ballot boxes currently under dispute.

The order stems from a petition filed by Kasese woman MP contender, Rehema Muhindo, challenging the victory of Kasese woman MP, Wilfred Kiiza.

Court presided over by Justice Elizabeth Namanya, heard that  the votes in nine boxes were tampered with prompting her agents to reject the results.

Muhindo argued that the election in which her rival was declared winner was fraught with serious irregularities.

Court ordered that the votes be recounted. But the lawyers representing the Kasese woman MP rejected the order but in vain.

They later requested the judge to allow them appeal but she refused the appeal, on grounds that this would be used as a tactic to delay the recount.

Muhindo said  she had a reason to smile and is confident that a recount could expose the electoral anomalies and eject the Kasese woman MP out of parliament.
