Two fishermen died on Tuesday morning when a boat they were sailing capsized in Kazinga channel, a few kilometers to Katunguru landing site on in
Rubirizi district.
The chairman Beach Management Unit for Katunguru landing site, Charles Kamuhanda, said the fishermens’ boat capsized at about 7.30 am as they were about to dock after a trans-night fishing spree.
The deceased have been identified as Jackson Sabba of Kisoro district and Pascal Kabuke of Katunguru
fishing village.
The bodies were retrieved from the lake on Wednesday and taken away by relatives for burial.
Kamuhanda attributes the boat accident to water leakage through a small hole that had
developed in the bottom of the boat.
