Police in the Western district of Kasese are holding a school director for allegedly defiling a student at one of his schools.
Rev. Samson Mwesigwa, the director of the Ebenezer Education Center in Bugoye sub-county, is now being detained at the Kasese central police station.
According to a police statement, Rev. Mwesigwa reportedly picked a senior four student at about 10pm on Friday and took her to his office, where he was caught red handed in the act by his own daughter.
It is said that the victim is a daughter to the sister of Rev. Mwesigwa’s wife.
Alex Ojok, the officer in charge criminal investigations at Kasese Central Police station and Bakari Muga Bashil, the Western Region Police spokes person confirm the suspect’s arrest and detention.
Ojok says that students complained about the disappearance of their colleague until the director’s own daughter, Charity Mwesigwa, went to his office and found the two having sex.
Ojok said Charity Mwesigwa shouted upon finding her father in a compromising position, a situation that attracted other students.
According to the police, the angry students attacked Rev. Mwesigwa and wanted lynch him but the man of God was rescued by police who put him on the patrol vehicle and rushed him to Kasese central police station.
He is to face charges of defilement since the girl claimed she was seventeen years. But he may face rape charges after the girl reportedly told police that the director forced her into sex.
Ojok says that on interrogation, Rev. Mwesigwa however denied the victim’s allegations of
rape and revealed he had been in love with her for long.
Police sources further say Mwesigwa asked for a police bond but the police refused saying that further investigations are still going on.
Ojok says that a medical report indicates there was penetration adding that the case file will on Monday June 20th, be transferred to the Resident State Attorney for interpretation.
He says from the state attorney, Rev. Mwesigwa will be taken to court.
