Security guards in Bugiri have shot dead a suspected fuel thief for siphoning oil from a mast belonging to MTN. The deceased has been identified as Willy Kapere, a resident of Kibuye village in Bulida Sub County.

He was shot last evening by a guard attached to Saracen while siphoning fuel at a mast belonging to MTN in Bugiri town.

Richard Musisi, Bugiri District Police Commander says that Kapere was shot when he rejected warnings to stop siphoning fuel. He says that police has recovered 10 jerricans of fuel that the suspect had siphoned from the MTN mast.

Musisi decries the increase of theft targeting installations of big companies such as MTN and UMEME amongst others in the district. He however, cautions security guards to desist against shooting to kill the suspect but instead do everything possible to arrest them.
