UPDATES: Fuel Stations ordered to Close as Juba celebrates Independence

With the heavy fines looming over their heads, Fuel stations and tank water services have remained closed. Uganda Radio Network Reporter in Juba says that many motorists have also been forced to park their cars.
Fuel stations and Tank Water service providers in Juba have been ordered to close shop today as South Sudan celebrates the Independence day.

The order by the Mayor Juba town council, Mohammad Baballa, came on Saturday morning with a stern warning for any defiant response.

The mayor says that anyone who defies the order risks a fine of 5,000 sudanese pounds an equivalent of about five million Ugandan shillings and Fuel stations, risk a  fine of 10,000 Sudanese pounds, an equivalent of 10 million shillings.

The mayor however says that normal business operations will resume on Sunday.

Thousands of people carrying miniature flags of the new country are streaming into the venue of the independence day celebrations.
