Town Dwellers Turn to Mbale Hospital To Ease Themselves

News
Lack of public toilets in Mbale is forcing hundreds of town dwellers to throng Mbale Hospital to ease themselves.
Lack of public toilets in Mbale is forcing hundreds of town dwellers to throng Mbale Hospital to ease themselves.

The authorities at the hospital say they are grappling with the high number of people who turn up to use the toilet facilities.

David Obol, the Senior Hospital Administrator says the hospital is facing pressure from the town dwellers who have resorted to using the hospital toilets because of lack of a public toilet in the town. He explains that the hospital is incurring high expenses in terms of maintaining the toilets because of the high number of people who use them.

Obol says the hospital now intends to close its gates for town dwellers by issuing identification cards to visitors. He also says the hospital is faced with another challenge from idlers who gather around the hospital premises. He says everyday about 200 idlers gather in the hospital compound from morning to sunset.

James Kutosi, the Mbale Municipal Spokesperson claims the town has more than three public toilets from which town dwellers can ease themselves. He says the people who are helping themselves from the hospital lavatories could be patients or their relatives.

But the two known public toilets in Taxi Park and Mbale Clock tower are currently not in use.

Paul Nangoli, the Mbale Resident District Commissioner says he has instructed Jacob Opolot, the Mbale District Police Commander to deploy policemen to chase away idlers from the hospital compound.
