Justice Winyi Dolo has failed to deliver his ruling on the election of Muhammad Mbabali, Bukoto south MP leaving hundreds of voters from the constituency stranded at Masaka High court. Mbabali was dragged to court by Mathias Nsubuga, former Bukoto South MP for lack of the minimum educational qualification.
In his petition, Nsubuga contends that Mbabaali presented forged papers to get nominated for the elections. He particularly singles certificates from SIT international collage and APAS collage from Malaysian, which were also rejected by the National Council for Higher Education.
Today, Justice Owiny Dolo was expected to deliver his ruling on the matter after hearing the case for one month in vain. Justice Dolo called up the lawyers for both parties informing that he would not make the ruling today because he was caught up in Gulu where he is handling the case of Thomas Kweyolo, former LRA director of operations.
Justice didn’t specify when he will deliver the ruling but told the lawyers that he will communicate the date soon. Immediately after getting off the phone with the judge, Mbabaali his lawyer Peter Nkurunziza and their supporter stormed out of the court.
Speaking to URN outside court, Mathias Nsubuga and his lawyer Caleb Alaka said they were frustrated by the delayed court ruling. Alaka explained that he wasted a lot of time and fuel traveling from Gulu to attend the ruling in Masaka.
// Cue in: “Unfortunately the court vacation …..”
Cue out: “….he has a lot of work to do.”//
Mathias Nsubuga also says that he was frustrated by the failure to deliver the ruling today. Nsubuga says that he transported many of his supporters to witness his court victory in vain.
// Cue in: “I had grounds…..”
Cue out: “…..i call it anxiety.”//
Mbabaali declined to comment on the matter saying that he has no business with news reporters.
