The security situation in Somalia is greatly improving in the areas controlled by AMISOM, the African Union Mission in Somalia and the Transitional Federal Government, or TFG, forces, according to outgoing Force Commander Nathan Mugisha.
The Force commander told agencies on Thursday that the area of control is still small compared to that controlled by Al-Shabab forces.
But Mugisha says it’s important for African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM ), to remain in the country to support humanitarian relief and the Somali people.

Mugisha also said that the withdrwal of AMISOM troops from Somalia will depend entirely on the ability of the Transitional Government Forces to run their own show.
