The Bushenyi district police Commander, Joab Wabwire, said on Sunday that the police are hunting for some of the students who were part of the rowdy group.

Police in Bushenyi have arrested eight students of  Ishaka Adventist College on charges of staging a violent strike.

The students staged a strike on Saturday night protesting against the administration's failure to serve enough food and denying them entertainment facilities.

Trouble started when female students were denied access to the entertainment room, prompting an outrage from the students who raided the head teacher’s residence and vandalised his house.

The Bushenyi district police Commander, Joab Wabwire, said on Sunday that the police are hunting for some of the students who were part of the rowdy group.

By Mid-day Sunday, the students stormed the police station and demanded their release prompting police to use force to send them away.

Amos Gumisiriza, the school’s head teacher, could not be reached for a comment as his phone was switched off.

Some sources from the school say that access to the entertainment room was denied because of the intermittent power supplies.
