The Jinja municipal senior environment officer, Earnest Nabihamba, has been re arrested on the orders of the inspector general of Government.
Nabihamba is accused of jumping court bail.
Early this year, Nabihamba together with the municipal Engineer Dathan Wamuzibira and the Municipal fore man, Michael Kakonge were arrested for their alleged involvement in false accounting of public funds amounting to Shs 800 000 and embezzlement.
The money was intended for some activities at Masese compost Manure plant.
The suspects were taken to anti-corruption court in Kampala and were released on court bail. They were told to reappear in court in June this year.
Wamuzibira and Kakonge reappeared in court twice, prompting the magistrate to issue arrest warrant for Nabihamba.
The IGG spokesperson Ali Munira, said Nabihamba has been hiding since his release on court bail.
Munira said that on Tuesday evening, the IGG’s office received information that Nabihamba was sighted at Busia border, prompting a quick reaction that resulted into his arrest.
Munira said Nabihamba was arrested just as he crossed into Kenya. He has been taken to Luzira prison.
