A student nurse at Kuluva School of Comprehensive Nursing and Midwifery in Arua district has committed suicide, following allegations that he used fake academic documents to get admitted at the school.
Moses Dralema, 26, a resident of Terego County joined the institution this year. His trouble started when the school administrators last week launched a verification exercise for all the newly admitted students and found the senior four papers he used to join the institution to be forged.
Dr. Godfrey Amandu, the acting medical superintendent of Kuluva hospital, who is also managing the school, says the fake documents were discovered late last week. On Monday, Dralema reportedly just disappeared from the school without informing any body. According to him, when students realized Dralema had disappeared, they informed the school administration and a search was mounted. On Tuesday evening, they found him dead with a rope around his neck just in the school neighborhood.
Amandu says the school administration suspects that Dralema committed suicide because of the discovery of his fake academic papers, adding that the incident happened immediately after the verification exercise was completed.
The school administration informed police, who visited the scene before the body was removed and taken to the hospital for a postmortem.
Dr Amandu said he regretted the action of the student. While the school administration insists that the student must have committed suicide because of the fake academic papers, students are not sure as many of them say even after the discovery the documents, Dralema was not bothered.
Josephine Angucia, the police spokesperson for West Nile says police has launched investigations in to the suspected suicide case because the relatives of the deceased students have a different version that he must have been killed before his body was dumped in the bush.
This is the first time a student of the school has committed suicide because of forged academic papers, though they have been discovering such similar problems.
