Four people died on Thursday morning when the car they were travelling in rammed into a lorry at the Kaguta junction along the Mbarara- Masaka highway.
The South Western Regional Traffic Police Officer, Donosiano Opwonya, said the deceased were travelling in a car registration number UAK 480Z, when it rammed into a Mercedes Benz lorry registration number UAK 480Z.
Preliminary investigations show that the lorry driver swerved into tyhe road abruptly in an attempt to make a turn.
The driver identified as Emmanuel Mugarura 43, died on spot. The others have been identified as Sharot Tumusiime, wife to Tumusiime Joab, the Managing Director of Crane Resort Hotel Ishaka Bushenyi, Natukunda Sarah of Smart Textiles Luwum Street Kampala and Blessed Nimusiima a minor.
Opwonya said the lorry driver has been arrested and the bodies of the deceased were taken to Lyantonde hospital for postmortem.
