The incident occurred at Kadindini fish camp in Buvuma town council.
 
The Buvuma resident district commissioner, Apollo Bwebale said death occurred in the wee hours of Tuesday morning during a heavy rain down pour.
 
He said lightning struck their grass thatched house and set it ablaze, leaving the occupants and their property burnt to ashes.
 
The dead have been identified as Godfrey Mayende, 40 years and his 30-year-old wife, Ruth Athieno. The others are four-year-old Shadruka Mangeni and Night Nabwire, 2 years, all from Busia district.
 
Bwebale said he has contacted the relatives to make burial arrangements for the dead tomorrow.
 
He said the heavy rain also destroyed crops, houses and other property.
