Kiboga Hospital in Desperate Quest for water Funds

Kiboga hospital is desperately looking for more than 30 million shillings, to repair its dilapidated water supply system.
 
Kiboga hospital has suffered years of chronic water shortage, rising from the worn out water pipes which are as old as the hospital which was established in 1960s.
 
Dr Micheal Musitwa, the Kiboga hospital Medical Superintendent, told Journalists in Kiboga on Thursday that more than 30 million shillings is needed to repair the water supply system.
 
Dr Musitwa says the hospital staff and patients have to walk a long distance from the hospital to fetch water from Kiboga town.
 
The doctor says the hospital is allocated only 130 million shillings per year, which he says is too little to effectively run the hospital.
 
Dr Richard Atikol, the Kiboga District acting Chief Administrative Officer, says the district is planning to to build protective walls to gazette the source of the water pumped to the hospital at Kirulumba village in Kiboga town.
 
He explained that the wall is intended to protect the water supplies from contamination.
