The first group of migrants who have been trapped by fighting in the Libyan capital of Tripoli is being evacuated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM)
The agency said on Thursday that an improvement in security conditions allowed its chartered boat, which had been anchored off the Tripoli coast since Tuesday, to finally dock late on Thursday morning.
IOM spokesman, Jumbe Omari Jumbe, said that most of the migrants being evacuated are Egyptians, Filipinos, Canadians, Algerians, Moroccans and an Italian.
