Four people have been committed to high court for trial for murdering a business man in Hoima.
The suspects are Yasin Twebaze, Julius Kobarikenda, Bosco Ruhanga and Alan Kutegeka, all residents of Kyarushesha village in Kyangwali sub-county, Hoima district.
The four are accused of murdering John Sewankambwe, a business man dealing in agricultural produce. The accused allegedly robbed the victim him of five million shillings before killing him.
Prosecution told court that the accused committed the offence on 13th February 2011 while in Kyarusheisha village in Kyangwali Sub County.
Court further heard that after the robbery and murder, the four dumped the deceased’s body in Bugoma forest reserve, where it was found two days later by the herdsman who reported to police.
Prosecution alleged that Yasin Twebaze, a prime suspect invited the deceased on 12th February to his home claiming he was going to sell him maize worth five million shillings. But on the following day, Twebaze instead called his colleagues who strangled the deceased.
Sewankambwe’s friends say Twebaze had been a close friend to late, selling him agricultural produce.
Appearing before Hoima grade one magistrate Richard Ndangwa on Thursday, the suspects were not allowed to enter plea on grounds that court lacked the jurisdiction to hear a capital offense.
However prosecution said it had finished with investigations and had lined up three witnesses calling for the hearing of the case.
Ndangwa committed the four to high court in Masindi for trial.
