Primary School Pupil Killed in Landslides

Rogers Kato, his father and siblings were sleeping inside their semi-permanent house when a huge boulder followed by water rolled into their house.
A 6-year-old P1 pupil at Mabonwa Church of Uganda primary school in Ibanda died on Sunday when landlsides hit Kitengure village.

Siliano Ssetaala, father to the deceased boy says his son was inside the house together with five siblings when he died.
 
Ssetaala says he survived by diving through the window.
 
The Kitengure LC1, chairperson, John Mary Sabbiti, says the landslides affected Kabukyengyere, Kinanura, Kalangara, Kyanika and Rwengorogoro villages in Mpasha parish, Rukiri Sub County in Ibanda district.
 
Mubangizi Javira, the parish councilor Mabonwa has asked government to come to the rescue of the affected area.
