Paddy Patrick Kibi, a music promoter in Masaka has been arrested in connection to a flopped Music concert in Ssembabule. Kibi was arrested today following the chaos that broke out last evening at Park Yard Pub following the failure by Jose Chameleon to perform at the concert. The revelers also looted a generator and several other properties belonging to the hotel before leaving the place.
Hussein Kalyango, an eye witness says that trouble started when Chameleon showed up at the pub and varnished without performing. He says that the failure by Chameleon to perform didn’t go down well with the revelers who pounced on Kibi and started demanding that he refunds their money. Kalyango says that the angry revelers looted 60 plastic chairs, a generator, and music equipment belonging to Jakika Band.
Witnesses also claim that two vehicles belonging to Nile Breweries were also vandalized. Police led by Muhammad Twesigye, the officer in charged of Mateete police post rushed to the pub and shot in the air to calm down the revelers.
Twesigye says that they have arrested Kibi in connection to botched concert. He explains that preliminary investigations show that Kibi signed a contract with Chameleon to perform at the pub for shillings 6 million.
Twesigye says that Kibi is being investigated for obtaining money by false pretense and extortion, adding that they are also hunting for Chameleon. Kibi denies any wrong doing saying that he paid Chameleon to perform at Park yard pub.
Chameleon is not new to botched music concerts in Southern Uganda. Last month, police in Masaka banned Chameleon from staging any shows there following a riot that broke out in Lukaya during his show.
