Amunon Baloko, a soldier attacked to Entebbe Air force base been arrested for electoral malpractice. He was picked up today from Katabi St. Joseph primary school polling station over allegations of impersonating a voter. Michael Kawooya, an agent of Muhamad Kauma, one of the candidates says that Baloko was arrested after using a name of a voter in the area to cast a vote.
Kawooya says that when he realized the anomaly and informed his colleagues drawing the attention of residents.
Vincent Paul Kayanja, Mayor Entebbe municipality immediately informed police about the incident leading to the arrest of Baloko. Mivule Ssenoga a resident of Katabi says that they want to teach Baloko a lesson for get involved in electoral malpractice.
Edger Nyabongo, Entebbe District Police Commander who ordered the arrest of the soldier has refused to comment on the matter. Nyabongo referred URN to Judith Nabakooba, police spokesperson to comment on the matter. The Entebbe Municipality bye-election has attracted four candidates.
They are Patience Mubangizi (NRM), Wilberforce Seryaazi FDC, Muhammad Kawuma DP and an independent Hawa Nakibuule. Charles Ochola, Electoral Commission public relations officer says that they expect to announce results of the poll by mid night.
