The Directorate of Criminal Investigations are in the final stages of their investigations into the local council bicycle scam before they can submit the file to the Director of Public Prosecutions for direction.

The Director Criminal Investigations, Edward Ochom says all that is left is interrogating Arjunan Rejesekaran who is away in India.

Rejesekaran is the sole director of Amman Industrial Tools and Equipments Ltd, the company that was given the contract to supply 70,000 bicycles meant for Local Council chairmen.

Ochom explains that efforts are being made to have Rejesekaran, who is answering police bond in India extradited to Uganda.  Uganda Police connected with the International Police to have Rejesekaran brought back to answer charges over the undelivered bicycles.

Last week Parliament ordered for the arrest of Patrick Bagarukayo, a local businessman who is reported to have taken 1.1billion shillings of the LC bicycle money. Bagarukayo failed to explain his relationship with Rejesekaran.  He was later granted police bond.
