Police in Amudat district have recovered two guns and 48 heads of cattle from suspected Pokot cattle rustlers.

The guns and the cattle were recovered on Monday by policemen who were patrolling along Loro-Amudat road.

George Obia, the Karamoja Regional Police Spokesperson says the police recovered two sub-machine guns and forty eight heads of cattle from a group of herdsmen.

Obia explains that the herdsmen abandoned the guns and fled on sighting a group of policemen who were on patrol. He says the police suspect the group to be cattle rustlers who were on their way from carrying out a raid.

The recovered cattle are now being kept by police.
