The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga on Wednesday made a morale boosting visit to the Cranes training session at Namboole Stadium, where she handed over Shs10 million to the team.
Kadaga was accompanied by the Minister for Sports Charles Bakabbulindi and MPs Dennis Obua for Ajuri County and Elijah Okupa for Kasilo County among others. The speaker said her office had thought it fit to visit the team and give them the morale ahead of the crucial game against Kenya on Saturday.
The Cranes face Kenya on Saturday in a must win game if they are to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations after their last appearance in 1978 in Ghana. Kadaga told the team that her presence in Namboole was an indicator that all MPs are behind the Cranes.
Team skipper Ibrahim Sekajja, who plies his trade in Austria thanked the Speaker for the good gesture and promised that the team will deliver.
Former health minister Mike Mukula had earlier also promised that for every goal scored he would pay players Shs1 million.
On the pitch, Coach Bobby Williamson said they are taking nothing to chance and will be all out to play very beautiful football and play to get the victory.
