Fredrick Ochan, a former presenter at Radio Lira has been sentenced to four years in jail for manslaughter.
Ochan was arrested in 2009 for punching Isaac Ajaga 15, a roasted chicken seller to death at Jinja Camp in Lira town.
High court judge Paul Mugamba, who is currently presiding over criminal capital offences in Lira district, said on Tuesday that Ochan did not intend to kill the deceased.
Mugamba said Ochan could have been given a longer jail sentence but he has been on remand for over two years already.
Before passing his judgement, Justice Mugamba said prosecution did not prove beyond reasonable doubt that it was murder aforethought.
Ochan however continued to plead his innocence saying he never knew who could have killed the deceased. He noted that he himself was beaten unconscious and is still recovering from some injuries he sustained.
At the time of the incident in 2009, Ochan was working as a morning and gospel show presenter on Radio Lira, in Lira town.
