Uganda has continued to fall short of having digital information in the cyber space.
According to the Information Economy Report 2011 released by United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), digital content that would aid private and public sector growth in Uganda is still limited.
The report highlights different countries’ progress in having digital content and business information systems in sectors like agriculture, health and education among others.
The experts say that though the country has made progress in ICT accessibility and the setting up of infrastructure, there is yet to be tangible content to put on the digital platforms available.
Michael Niyitegeka from the College of Computing and Information Technology at Makerere University says that part of the problem in Uganda is attitudes that are averse to information technology.

Ali Ndiwalana, a Researcher in Mobile Financial Services Incubation with Grameen Foundation, says that the challenge for the private sector in digital information is the resources to collect, digitalize and avail this data.

Uganda launched the E-government backbone infrastructure in early October but most of the information that government would avail to the public is still in print form.
