The United Nations says that while corruption affects all countries in the world, it is the poor people who suffer most from it.

An estimated trillion dollars is being lost to corruption a year, according to the World Bank.

Dimitri Vlassis, from the UN office on drugs and crimes says although there are no exact figures about the cost of corruption, it is affecting the development and delivery of essential services to people around the world.

More than a thousand participants have gathered in Marrakech, Morocco for a five-day conference to discuss how to tackle the corruption scourge.
